Challenges of an Articulating Bed Design
In the video below I delve into the challenges of designing a well supported bed for an articulating vehicle.
After uploading the video I figured I would see how the geometry looked with two independent beds. I was surprised to see that the usable space is very large with this approach, and also that the weight is well distributed above the axles.
Here it is with a decently long wheel base, although this requires a 79.6 degree articulation angle to maintain the turning radius of 1.5x track width.

And here it is with a smaller wheelbase which reduces the articulation angle needed to 59.7 degrees.

One of the considerations of this approach is where to mount the stereo depth cameras I plan on using for navigation.
